This course provides an introduction to the healthcare field, with an overview of career pathways, occupational requirements and different opportunities available to healthcare professionals. It also introduces the physical structure of the body, explaining how the structures and organ systems of the body work. Students will learn how each body system works with the others to stay alive. Additional topics include different diseases and disorders, recent advances in medicine, and ways to take care of your body.
Skills Acquired:
- Discuss professional and ethical considerations within healthcare.
- Explain the significance and legal implications of HIPPA.
- Identify anatomical structures and describe their physiological function within the human body.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Describe diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of common diseases.
